hahaha tom i'd be happy to help you lay it out, but as for the dynamic style prev /next button i don't have enough insight or time to complete that much for you. (i would guess php or jquery could do that?)
how about one long list?
i'm not being sarcastic either. i don't see anything wrong with a vertical list. but then i still like blackletter/gothic fonts.
