    I might have an idea where "meh" comes from.

    Italians use the exclamation "ma" as an expression of modesty. For example

    Wop 1 - Wow! that new design you did rocks my world"
    Wop 2 - Ma ! (shrug)

    "Ma" actually translates as "but" in English , although the meaning of "ma" within this context actually means something like: "ah you know, it nothing much"

    I dunno I could be talking out of my rse.
