  I had a similar crisis to Jorp. I realised, after finding out I have no job in the new year, that “things” don’t really do it for me. A new camera would be nice, but out of the question. So I thought “as long as I have a nice Christmas with my family and the kids get spoiled rotten (they have been), then I don’t need more things.” I got a couple of books for myself. One is about oil-painting technique, so that will be good.

  For the first time since I can remember, I don’t really care that I’m not getting some big, hyped-up, expensive gadget.
