If you're living for the present and she's living for the future, I'm not sure it will work. You sound like you really care about her, but if you're admitting that perhaps the "slip" was more than "just a slip", then I think you guys need to not be too serious about things for a while, and see how it goes. As sea_sea said, she probably just wants to know that she's not wasting her time, which is an answer you may not be able to give her at this time (judging by your posts so far). But perhaps you can help alleviate the pressure.
