    I would tend to agree with you. Naturally it depends the nature of the ad, the copy, and all that jazz.
    I don't have any documents, but I can tell you I've rarely created any ad that doesn't include a human (where appropriate).

    Potentially good reason: The presence of a person in an ad immediately communicates the tone and intended demographic far quicker than any other copy or design element.
    (I'm making this up, but it sounds good)
