That shape isn't geometric, it's ust a bucn of circles that have been punched out using the pathfinder tool, then colours applied perhaps using transparency at some point. Then all these shapes have been masked by a large encompassing circle and it looks to me like it's probably been done by eye, then finally when these shapes have then been expanded into individual shapes, further gradients have been added on certain parts.
