saw an old friend giving a reading yesterday. He's old now, wife , two young children, and just got his PhD, though said all his clothes were second-hand and finding the prospects bleak. His poetry is very dense and occasionally beautiful but not an easy sell. His reading was followed by another poet who wrote a whole book about Anna Nicole Smith explaining she "was so empty, I though I'd fill her up" She read about 5 poems that explained the sadness and exploitation of Anna with the tits. It was contemptuous and as my friend said over a drink later " just another hole we can fuck her for."
