what is the box for? is it a company server, if so, how many users do you have at the office?
if you are going to use ms server software, and you need email, you should look at exange. it's a wee-bit pricy, but ms products work best together.
check tucows.com for some good servers - they have dns, firewall, etc available. most of it is free or gpl, but they also list commercial products.
you will need a firewall. if you are going to try to make this nt server a web box, then please get a good firewall [good meaning NOT blackice or zone alarm or other shitty canned app].
a fresh nt/iis server is like 2bit whore, baby, easy easy easy to fuck.
