I remember I accidently ended up a speaker sale, bought some old 12" cones and knocked up some ghetto ass boxes for them - sounded real good, punchy, bassy and crisp..
Then my friend brought round Nation of Millions, and we cranked up my parents old stereo through these speakers to 10, full bass, full treble, and sat in the closet with these speakers - I'd never experienced anything as furiously dark and angry and real as that music, up real loud, in my face, in the dark, in a neat little white suburb, a continent away - it changed what I knew about the world right there and then. These people meant fucking business - they lived lives that hurt, they had somthing to say, and I was listening.
Nothing was ever the same for me.
Flav cold lamped it for me.
