i have worked for an AIDS task force, they work hard to persuade everyone to get tested, even people who consider themselves "safe". i would guess that 1 in 5 people who assume they are healthy are surprised with their results?
the majority of people who come in on their own suspect they may have it already. task forces are trying to change that mentality.
