i dunno, in this economy unless a company is doing REALLY well i don't know if anybody would be getting raises. from what i hear many are even cutting back on their company holiday parties. if you're making decent cash i'd almost say hang in there and wait it out until next year. get a great portfolio together, create some good relationships with the other companies and hang in there.
my fear would be that you get hired in to a new place and instantly you're the new guy who's the lowest on the totem pole. if your new company gets into hard times guess who's the first to go... the new guy.
