@dskz exactly...it's WAY different than a traditional vocoder.
traditional vocoders let you blend two signals. like a keyboard and a vocal, to produce effects. autotune just allows you to change the pitch of one material. it doesn't blend the two.
the effect you hear so widely abused is autotune set on its most extreme settings, where you get that wacky pitch jump effect.
two VERY different things.
- when people reference a "vocoder" in a musical convo they're always referencing the way to blend 2 signals, not just correct pitchsublocked
