Agencies WTF!

Sad-but-true, indeed.
We've been contacted by several agencies over the past 3 yrs. One agency in particular (who will remain anonymous) contacted us w/ a site redesign, and insisted that we quote them (which they would then return to their client) at a ridiculously-high level. I knew right away that this would not fly—I knew this particular client would not accept an estimate even close to the amount in question.
Well, like good boys, we did what was asked of us, and were told not to worry about the amount, as the account manager would deal w/ it, and they had complete confidence that the proposal would be accepted. I knew it would never fly. We were told to make a few amendments to the estimate, which we did.
The agency never got the job, we were treated unprofessionally, and in-the-end, the project went to what I think was a freelancer.
Goes to show, that even the "best-and-brightest" studios, are run by people that can't handle even the most basic of communications. Egos run amuck, and things like this happen.
