What do 'Jock', 'Paddy' or 'Taff' actually mean I wonder. I've always assumed Paddy comes from Patrick but that's purely a guess and not a particularly incisive bit of name calling if I'm right.
- paddy does infact mean patrick, ie. irish.7point34
- paddy wagon is a phrase to describe a police car. stemming from irish cop stereotype7point34

- I don't know, maybe google will offer some insight.Jnr_Madison
- also possibly referring to the large number of drunken irish immigrants that were carted off to jail7point34
- the 2nd was from wikipedia, both obviously based hugely on irish stereotypes.7point34
- never heard of taff. i'm assuming jock (meaning athlete?) comes from jock strap. or protective cup7point34
- Jock is Scots for John, hence the term. Taff is Daffodils or something isn't it?kelpie
