Bristol and Bath are great places and has a thriving creative scene.
As the others have said, Clifton, Redlands are the main places to live, but Gloucester road is cool too, and has loads going.
As for agencies, well there's some pretty good ones too, so if you don't have a job, you should look some, TrueDigital, E3 Media, Nokia Music, etc, etc
