my wife is from oahu, but most of her family is on the big island. we rented out this B&B (kona side up in the mountains) for 3 days so the families could stay there, bbq, and hang out/relax. we had a small wedding all on site (23people). http://www.holualoainn.com/
went out on her uncles boat 2days prior and caught all the fish for the wedding, then just hired a chef to come in and prepare it all. having a small wedding meant we could pay attention to a lot of little nice details, even had our rehearsal dinner down at the 4seasons, and still only cost a fraction of a 200person hall/banquet thing.
the B&b thing was cheaper than renting a big house, had an amazing fresh fruit breakfast everyday, and really nice to have it all private.
