It's like, I have relatives who have beards... but they aren't "playing beard". It's obviously some childish fad, and of course any mental midget coming to grips with their sense of individuality is going to look at the guy in their art history class with the beard and say "hmm maybe I should grow one too..."
Kids are stupid.
