I never bring up the issue of money and prefer to avoid it until the interviewer or hr throws out their expectation. If it's higher than mine great. If not it's up for discussion. If I'm interviewing at a place I figure I've seen some worth in it one way or another. Worst case scenario I've manged to be introduced to someone who has some control over hiring at the company and if I can make a good enough impression it might benefit me in the long run even if I don't take the immediate job.
