I hate it too. Illustrator doesn't open with other apps open, have to restart to clear the ram, etc.
I've found one feature I like (when you rename a file, it only selects the name, not file extension - big deal, right?).
I would not buy it again (I was sent a replacement with it instead of XP, so I thought I'd give it a try).
