Being at the victory rally in Chicago was one of the most special things I've ever gotten to do in my life. Wow. That speech... My dad left me a message at 11:30 and just said "treasure this moment and treasure that you were there."
I always wonder what it must be like for players on championship sports teams who win and say "I don't know what I feel, it hasn't hit me yet." I feel like tonight, I know somewhat what that must feel like, because while this is real and final and in the history books, man... I just got to see what could be the most defining moment in American politics for the entirety of my life, past and future. I just don't know how to put the right words on that.
And I have to say, the most special moment of the night might just be Obama telling the crowd, the country, the world, that they are going to get their daughters a puppy when they move into the White House. :) It brought a tear to my eye, because what I was watching was an absolutely human person relate to his family on the biggest night of their lives and share a family moment with us - and I'm sure that is all his daughters are going to bed thinking about. Not that their dad is going to be president, but that they can finally have a puppy. I bet it's like trying to fall asleep on Christmas Eve for them tonight, just happy about that.
Wow. Tonight was unreal. It's 1:00 am and I hope I can fall asleep myself.
