Interesting to look at the GTF Public Choice thread. Huw Morgan, one of the creative directors there, was my best friend in year 1 at Saint Martins. He was a fiddly diddly doodling illustrator and was in on the illustration course. I was a nickety pernickety graphic designer on the graphic design course. Then he switched to graphic design, which was a surprise to everyone, and was immediately mind-blowingly fantastic at it. So odd, becuase before that he was primarily interested in painting noodly doodly smiley faces on bit of wood with poster paints.
He went to work for GTF immediately after leaving the RCA, and I was working at AboudSodano. He has never left GTF and is now in the enviable position of being one of the creative directors of easily the UK's most creative and admired agencies.
I on the other hand have had the benefit of working for about eleven hundred different companies in a variety of positions and have had many experiences, and also have not yet managed to decide exactly what it is I wish to do for a living.
Its funny the decisions you make as you make your way... so hard to know which is the best way to go. I could have stayed at AboudSodano and could now be in a similar position over there but even so I don't think I'd have ever been happy with that kind of path.
Who knows where it all ends anyway. "We shall see" as the Buddha likes to say.
