I once woke up after being sideswiped by a truck while riding my bike. The first thing I remember is looking over my shoulder and seeing some people yelling "Holy Fuck" Then I noticed my foot was beside my head. My leg was bent up behind me. Somehow I got up and walked my bike home. My girlfriend said that i looked like a ghost when i walked in. I went straight to bed. the pain still hadn't set in. I didn't feel anything until about 4 that morning when she had to carry me into a cab and off to the hospital. I remember being in the emergency room while the doctors were discussing the patient in the next bed. They were trying to decide whether it was worth saving this guys fingers or cutting them off. I think he mangled his hand in some machinery. My pain was minor compared to his.
