Man sentenced for threat to SoCal congressman
    AP State | Saturday, Oct 25 2008 9:34 AM

A Santa Monica man has been sentenced to a year in a mental health facility for making death threats against a congressman because he believed the government was preventing him from wearing women's underwear.

Thomas Aaron Brothers, 41, was sentenced Friday in Pomona. In August, he pleaded no contest to a felony charge of threatening a government official.

Prosecutors say he threatened to kill Rep. David Dreier during one of several June phone calls to the congressman's district office in San Dimas. During the calls, Brothers complained of government harassment for wearing women's underwear.
