This kind of reminds me of the "Drug War". Too many resources wasted on small time users.
The bulk of software giant's money comes from large companys that buy multiple licenses for their staff and buy all upgrades when immediately available. Software giants don't make too much from an individual user. Of course you can group together a multitude of individuals, over a wide area i'm sure, to mirror the bulk of that big company, but in comparison, the companys provide more users than individual users. Hence a bigger profit off big companys.
One other thing, if it wasn't for cracked software, there would be a whole lot less creativity i believe. Compare the ones can afford $500 sofware as well as classes/training vs. someone that likes to learn and experiment on their own without instructural influence.
Long live cracked software!
