Here! Yup, I'm definitely a female.
I do design for a company who owns a chain of restaurants and various other businesses...if you want to call it design after they hack it up. I do freelance jobs here and there on the side and contract photo work as well. I'm in Detroit tho so really its anything to pay the bills. Haven't had a chance for stellar design since college.I'm a print designer. Love doing books and publication/multiple page stuff. My biggest problem at my main job there is only one of me and like 5 bosses for about 8 businesses...all a family. So half the family hates me for no good reason so they rarely listen, just yell like I'm a moron. The other half don't know anything or have any art/design taste but think they're the shit (men btw) so they get the ego kickin and scream and yell as if my degree stands for nothing. Basically they put out crap for years and it worked for some odd reason so they think they know. People don't realize good design takes time and will increase the revenue they already make. Thats the biggest issue. That and I'm the youngest in the office so though I have more education and experience in this then everyone here combined...no one will take me seriously b/c i'm "young."
On the other hand...in freelance I have used my womanly powers to get a good idea to sell. Not ashamed either b/c after that one little hair flip the client saw good design and trusted me from then on out. A 1 month job turned into almost a year and still tickin.
