oop. and after that longwinded comment, I forgot a few things... I work primarily in interactive, and...
One of the biggest challenges as a freelancer is balancing my own clients with work that I do through agencies. Both have their positives and negatives, but a solid stock of the former is beginning to be my ideal (no matter how challenging a client can be, an agency is usually worse). However, right now agencies have a serious shortage of talent to draw from and seem desperate to have folks doing on-site work. As much as I like having a long slow cup of tea in the morning, I also appreciate a sudden surge in my bank account, so I waffle between weeks of working on my own schedule to doing the typical ten to twelve hour days as a contractor. Particularly with so much fright in the economy, it is nice to have some immediate pay contracts.
