Gov does and that's the sort of thing taxes should be paying for. Military is included too. But we've got bases in over 100 countries. Why? Do these bases actually help us or hurt us? Fact: all suicide bombers came from countries with heavy US occupation. If anything these bases hurt our ability to protect ourselves by making more enemies and costing us tons of money. There are basic things that gov pays for with our taxes that are good. It's the extras they 'provide' us with that are extremely expensive and downright foolish. Btw, I think our infrastructure system recently received a grade of D. So while gov gallivants around they're shirking their basic responsibilities. New Orleans for instance. The levies broke, don't you think they should have gone in and built some bad ass fool proof new levies? During that last storm a couple months ago they said the new levies had a 30% chance of failing. So where the hell is all our money going?!?!?
