good question, lloyd!
in germany the normal workdays are monday to friday. for most of the workforce saturdays are off too. retail businesse are open until afternoon/evening on saturdays. sundays are completely off.
if you take into account that salaried employees usually get between 3 - 6 weeks paid holidays per year, and add the bank holidays (~10), it would be roughly 210 work days per year.
