the xbox is outdated, but has a couple games worth playing.
the ps3 has tons of games worth playing, won the format war, and will continue to get better and better. it has more HD games, and will be releasing playstation home soon.
the wii is good if you have kids.
it all depends on what you want. i tend to think of the wii as for children, xbox for poor college kids, and the ps3 for adults who are willing to pay a little extra for premium hardware and a console that's going to stand the test of time
