My problem with ACORN is not really the voter registrations. It's the fact that they're an aggressive left wing group that targets minorities and the poor to further their own agenda. Anti-capitalist and pro-socialist by nature they've helped push the irresponsible subprime loans through lawsuits against banks etc etc - which as we know, has now rendered homeless a lot of the people they've exploited. They're pretty hardcore. Now I don't really mind their existence, most of it is completely legal. However, I do think their tactics are distasteful to say the least. If they were really trying to help the people they say they're helping then maybe they'd propose responsibility through solid initiatives. Instead they're trying to force institutions to flex to their agenda without concern of the outcome, and I find it hard to believe they didn't know that the market would flex back thus hurting the people that they're supposed to be helping. If there was a Republican group that were out there exploiting the poor and minority groups to benefit their agendas no matter the cost then levied on the people who trust them then I think we'd all be able to agree that it's not a good thing either. No?

I'm sorry but I really don't believe that the current form of our welfare state does anything but buy voters. We like to think that all these government programs actually benefit the people they're supposed to, but the truth is American poverty levels are at the same basic level that it was before we started the programs - despite trillions and trillions of dollars spent. But we all feel a lot better about ourselves yeah? The only true solution is less government creating less bureaucracy and more economic freedom for everyone - the talking heads won't tell you that though.

    • This was the most non-bias article I could find on ACORN. http://article.natio…tommyo
