ok on a related note...
tasty's method seems like the most effective for me. I even tried crumpling up a paper and scanning it... didn't work out too well.
First I make a shape of the wrinkle with the lasso tool and layer via copy
I'm using a real subtle inner bevel with the shadow mode set to Color Burn 100% . then I go back with the burn tool at 10-15% and go over some of the shadow's so they don't look so predictable with layer style. go over some of the highlights to with the dodge tool.
for a nice touch I select the wrinkle and use a hard brush and very lightly brush a small section with white so it looks like the paper got really worn to almost a tear
