amazing city, just celebrated it's 400th anniversary. It's beautiful, you feel like you're in europe.
I visited it once when i was 16. All i can remember is girls, beer, strippers, wide assortment of narcotics, lakers vs celtics on genesis and snow.
Great people though, one night my buddies and i were walking from the hotel to a strip bar or night club in -45c weather. it was a 20 minute walk but we only made it half way before we felt like we'd freeze to death so we ducked into this little restaurant.
We wanted to keep warm more than anything and we had very little money on us. When they brought the menus we were shocked at how expensive everything was so we just ordered a round of their cheapest beer. The owner then came out and said, I see that you're a bunch of young guys out on the town with little money, so i'll tell you what, for 5 bucks a piece well make you a meal to remember.
we agreed and they proceeded to bring out the most delicious food we'd ever eaten, fresh baguettes, savory cheeses, quiches, this amazing rosti and finally this huge plater of assorted meats, all raw. We looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders, we thought it strange but figured it was a French delicacy or something so we proceeded to chomp on the uncooked flesh. Then about 5 minutes later when the platter was half done, the waiter brought out the hibachi. Everyone got a big laugh out of it and the owner popped open a bottle of wine on the house since he got such a kick out of us.
I'd love to go back one day and find that place.
