1.) Be appropriate
2.) The client is not always right
3.) The client may need your help in understanding what is 'appropriate' - once they understand... THEN they're always right - and DEFINITELY let them think they're the ones who figured out what it means to be appropriate because then they'll keep coming back... filling your pockets with cash.
4.) 'good design' is subjective - even the most seasoned designers disagree on design - passionately -
... so... relax and be happy you actually get to do something you like.
