I try to pay halves at the beginning of anything - it's a buffer (for me atleast) in case I don't like the guys I don't feel bad later for making him pay. Keeping it friendly is fine I think - keeps things casual. No sense rushing into it. Sounds like she wants to get to know you before anything serious (or exclusive) is set.
just my opinion though...
ps - i want someone that'll describe me like you described her at the beginning of the thread, damn, where do these men exist? haha
