Mollusks are animals belonging to the phylum Mollusca. There are around 250,000 extant species within the phylum, with an estimated 70,000 extinct species. It is an extraordinarily diverse group, and representatives of the phylum live in a wide range of environments, from the deep-sea to fairly moist terrestrial habitats.
