I have a cordless Logitech trackman marble at home, and the wire version at work.
some people are into trackballs, some aren't. But it's excellent, I rarely use a regular mouse but at a few places.
As for batteries...
Buy yourself a AA battery charger and the proper batteries at Radio Shack or anywhere else that sells those things, and you'll never regret it.
I think my charger was like $25 and batteries are not too much. doesn't matter, it pays for itself.
If you have: tv remotes, portable cd player, wireless things, you'll save money having rechargable batteries.
