also....i bought a ibook refurbished and had it for YEARS with no problems
@ work I have a beast of a machine (dual quad core, 6 gigs of ram, a terrabyte of storage on multiple drives) and the fucking thing barely starts up.
My last work machine (g5) had a hard drive go out on it.
My point:
It's a roll of the dice how long it will work. I think refurbished is actually a good solution for a lower end item.
