Actually, a Life Coach is supposed to be a licensced therapist (Either licensed clinical social worker, licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage, family & child counselor, Licensed Ph.D. Psychologist) with additional training to be certified as a Coach. Coach University is, or was the only accredited University offering trainging to therapist wanting to do Coach work in their practice, or change over to Coaching full time.

Now, that's not to say that there aren't people out there with a Masters (or even a Bachelors) degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology or an MFCC in CA, who, without benefit of additional training and license, "put up their shingle" as a coach. If you think you would benefit from a very directive approach from someone who will help you set goals, short and long term, and help you set action steps and time frames to meet those goals; someone to help you impose structure in your life until you learn to do it yourself; then...I suggest you look for the Certified Coach from Coach University in CO in the person you seek.

I am a Master's level Clinical Psychologist, not practicing currrently, but did so for over 15 years with a License in Marital and Family Therapy. :)

    • look how that worked out for you huh. after all that we still find you in here with us.airey
