All major advertising company's have hq's in Amsterdam (YnR, TBWA, Publicis WK, etc.) so there is a lot of work in that area. The advertising market is bigger than the web market in Amsterdam.
Although the jobmarket is pretty bad right now, a lot of my friends have found new jobs the past weeks, so it is possible. Besides that if you have a good portfolio than there is always work for you.
Also check agency.com. Although they are a bitch you can always try.
The biggest problem is getting your accomodation. Amsterdam is impossible if yoe have not much money or friends. Rotterdam is much easier, but sucks as a city (...).Anyway good luck.
