    I always HATE itr when people say "Take his comments with a HUGE pinch of salt". The point of the 'pinch of salt' is that a pinch of salt makes no difference, so the meaning of it is that you shouldn't let something affect you becuase its as insignificant as adding 'a pinch of salt' to a recipe. So if you say "Huge pinch of salt" then that would affect the flavour and therefore would have the opposite meaning to the meaning intended.

    • Isn't the phrase, "with a grain of salt", instead of, "huge pinch of salt". As the former which you so deftly pointed out ... makes no sense.
