i think any barrier you put in front of making sales is a BAD decision.
a lot of these "cool" stores suffer from navigation problems and confusion. why confuse people who are trying to give you money?
stick with simple, clean nav and you'll be straight.
i'm biased as all of these are based on my Substruct rails project, but i like em anyway.
