you could rent kayaks a few places around the city to cruise around the bay. cruise around pike place. go up the needle. pioneer square is packed with cool shops, pubs, art. broadway has lots of homeless, goth, drag queens, hippies in one area to people watch (decent shops). down-downtown has all your usual metro places.
