Suan Lum night market is pretty cool and is open everynight, we went last year and there was a concert on full of thia rock bands which was interesting.
The Floating markets are fascinating to watch but you have to but up v early.
Jim thomsons house is great - so is its restaurant.
Tuc tuc's are a laugh - Ask them to pull a wheelie - oh and remember that your insurance will 'not' cover you while riding these!
Use the BTS Skytrain when shopping - it goes to all the good shopping centres and is clean and safe.
When using taxis be careful, get a (rough) price before you go..better still get your hotel to book them and get a fixed price.
Grand Palace is cool, but the emerald budda is disappointing, its about 4 inches tall and about 30 foot in the air.

Another hoter you might want to look at is Shangri-La - which was voted 8th best hotel in the world. We stayed and Its amazing, great location for everything too.
