hahah, I have been in almost exactly a similar situation, in Montreal with friends not woken up, not wanting to waste any time in what is a very interesting slightly foreign yet strangely familiar place..
I think I went up onto the roof of the apartment block and got some great air and look around loads...ooh look, a kind of geodesic dome thing and that frankly fucking scary light tower from the olympic stadium over there..
Then I went and bought a lovely fresh stick of bread, surprised that even the numbers were written in the uniquely french style, with odd swirls and serifs and proportion..
If in doubt in a city, go eating and walking, eating and walking. Stop for some coffee and admire the Quebeceresses.
