Boys are brought up with this idea that you 'never hit a girl', but it is tacitly ok, if punishable, to hit other men. Young men are far and away the most frequent victims of violence from other young men. Growing through our teens girls learn that they are 'allowed' be a whole lot nastier verbally or psychologically to men (and other women) than men can be, because they're not going to get a smack in the face like a man would. This puts young men at vulnerable ages under great psychological pressure when they realised that they're likely to get beaten around whilst they learn to control their mouths and tempers than girls are, and paired with distant or absent mothering many men suppress this anger which later becomes expressed as abuse of women.
The only reasons never to hit a woman then, if we are to address this imbalance are that you shouldn't ever hit anyone, and the fact that she might be pregnant, knowingly or otherwise, and trauma could cause a clot which might travel and lead to miscarriage.

    • whoah whoah whoah who's pregnant? when did that happen? lol
