Um, totally depends on what you consider a nice lifestyle? but I think you can have a very nice lifestyle on £24,000. I know I did, anything less that 18,000 though is not fun unless you have just graduated. Just don't over reach on your rent, and there is so much cheap cool stuff to do in town, there is no need to spend a fortune on the cinema, art, etc, there are cheap nights, private viewings, etc. There are plenty of places to get smashed on less that £40 a night and lots of amazing place to eat for under £30 a head. I you want to spend every night in the buddha bar or eating out at the Ivy every night and live in covent garden then you may need more.
