What a funny world we live in - people getting so excited over something that, to the generality is actually quite dull. Why the excitement? The faint possibility of utter annihilation. Joe Street couldn't give two hoots about the Higgs Boson or any other sub-atomic structure, real or otherwise.
So, now we think we're over the possible extinction-level event, we'll lose interest and CERN's moment will be gone 'til it gets its next upgrade (~2014, if you want to put it in your diary).
