  I have been using a PC since forever as well and recently made the transition to Mac in the workplace. While both have their pros and cons I can honestly say my productivity and workflow is much more efficient on a Mac. This is mostly due to the wonderful feature called expose - it makes panning between windows outrageously simple and awesome. There are a few quirks to OSX however... finder isn't as powerful IMO as Explorer and there are a large amount of features that are 'automated' for you - but most of these things can be customized.

  I think you will find the transition mostly painless though. OSX is certainly not a bad piece of software - hell, it might even make a believe out of you.
