    Umm....soo....being the camera n00b I am, I emailed my prof to ask her some more questions about the camera, and she clarified:

    "For example, a 75 - 300 mm, a 55 - 300, a 28 - 200 are all ok. The ref I gave in class for not ok, was 100 - 300."

    Whoops! My bad.

    I think I'll be getting the XSi, so any suggestions for a lens between one of these ranges would be awesome. Unless you already mentioned it (I am going back through these suggestions again).

    • Actually, the same lenses are usually available for the Nikon D90 too, and they are almost the same price. So either one.Jaline
