I think you'll find that most 'wars' are economic struggles for whichever resource is most valuable at the time. It isnt as basic as an 'oil grab' more forced control over governments and system that facilitate the continued consumption of more and more oil.
One power failure and the US is all over the place. Goes to show how important oil is and why bush is willing to spend countless billions of dollars and end as many lives as it takes to control the energy systems of the world.
